America’s past: ad for slave auction

The word “nigger” is a bastardization of Nigerian used for African slaves brought to America.  For two centuries, nigger meant black slave.  By the 1980’s, the word had nearly died until it was resurrected by the black community.

Now nigger means you’re hip or down with it.  You’ve got street cred.  Nobody better mess with the nigger.

Conversely, white folk aren’t allowed to use this word.  It’s for blacks only.

Question:  Why would blacks want to keep this word alive anyway?  I can only guess.

Is it to remind “whitey” that we enslaved them?

It is a term of endearment for African-Americans?

Or is there a more twisted reason?  For those that want a reason to be disenfranchised as an excuse for their own failure?
